First Day at the Mission

Our mission began at 6:30 in the morning with a prayer and devotion at Prayer Rock. We traveled to the cross to enjoy the breath-taking view from the cross. We then visited the compound which included the solar cookers, the sewing center, the school, the church, and the clinic.

We traveled to the village and we were swarmed by the village children. We loved holding their hands and greatly enjoyed their company. We saw many of the worker’s houses and went to the source of the canal to cool down.

We were blessed to help out with some Lifeline projects. The first task was to match a whole two rooms full of unmatched shoes. We soon turned this into a competition, with Jordan being the supreme winner with 78 matches. The second place winner, Scott, was far behind with a total of 53 matches. Next, we worked on making water filters with much needed supplies for people at the tent city. Soon afterwards, we enjoyed sorting out the love bundles to deliver to a nearby school.

We tried our sporting skills out with the Haitians. We played basketball and soccer in the newly built soccer field.

After these activities, we enjoyed a delicious dinner of Shepherd’s pie, made by the one and only, Pat. We sang hymns as the sun set and enjoyed the cooler night air.
